He had considered a career in medicine even prior to college and followed the teacher’s advice while satisfying his appetite for music by serving as the College organist. He was committed to the College’s core values of excellence in education, diversity, and social responsibility, and with those attributes brought robust and creative perspective to his work as a trustee as well as his connections to his fellow Grinnellians, colleagues, patients, family, and friends.Īs an undergraduate, he was interested in music, history, chemistry, and zoology and he had a variety of extracurricular interests, from playing oboe in the College orchestra to being involved with student government.Ĭraig initially dreamed of becoming a musician, but a music teacher he respected advised him to become a doctor instead. Craig served on the College Board of Trustees from 2000 until he retired from the board in 2016. ![]() 26, 2022, at his home in San Francisco at the age of 81.
